- Impressive World Record Team Average !
Last month, a new milestone in international billiards was established; the dutch team of Hanze Catering finshed their match versus Buys Incasso with a new world-record when it comes to the team average: 2.197 !
This record is established on Gabriels Imperator tables during the Dutch Premier division in 3-cushion.
It was a showcase of maganificient billiards; Jaspers (50 points in 12 innings !), Blomdahl (50 points in 18 innings) Horn (50 points in 29 innings) and Korevaar (50 points in 32 innings) broke the existing worldrecord of the belgian league team LUGO.
The match average of Dick Jaspers of 4.166 means a season high in the dutch Premier Division in 2007/2008.
All these fantastic results were established on 4 beautifull Gabriels Imperator Dianite tables which were all equipped with Simonis Rapide 300 cloth.

- Miguel Torres wins USBA National 3-cushion championship
For the first time in history the US national three cushion championship was organised outside an existing billiard-club.
At the 2008 Derby City Classic, three cushion was put in the spotlight with some magnificient events: Regional Qualifiers for the National championship, the USBA National Championship for both men and women and lots of side-events.
For the first time in history Miguel Torres claimed the national title; with a streak of 10 wins and 1 loss. He was responsible for a grand average of 0.955 and a high run of 9.
2007 winner Pedro Piedrabuena finished 2nd, while 2006 champion Mazin Shooni finished 3rd. Sonny Cho was rewarded for the best run in the event of 11 points, while runner-up Piedrabuena was responsible for the best grand average of 1.157
The USBA nationals were played on 6 Gabriels Imperator Dianite tables. For the 3rd succesive time Gabriels has contributed to the three cushion division during the Derby City Classic. We are very proud that this initiative has developed itself into this milestone: The USBA 3-cushion Nationals

- Jean Paul de Bruijn, becomes Dutch National Champion 3-cushion
For the first time in the history the Dutch National 3-cushions championships have been played at Carambowl- a brand new bowling & billiards complex in the city of Goes.
The tournament also known as the "2007 Masters" , has been played at 4 Gabriels Imperator tables. With 32 competing players it was elite of the dutch 3-cushion scene who battled for the grand prize.
In the end it was local favourite Jean Paul de Bruijn who claimed the first prize which he claimed as his biggest and most important success. This stressed the prestige of the 2007 Masters,as De Bruijn is a multiple world- and european champion in one-cushion.
In the phinal phase de Bruijn beat Raymond Burgman in the quarter finals. In the semi-final it was Dick Jaspers, who has won the masters tournament 13 times. Jean Paul de Bruijn finished the match with 3-1 in sets scoring an match-average of 1.916. A major upset, which resulted in the 3rd place for Dick Jaspers, who was responsible for an incredible match average of 3,571 in the group stage against Martens.
In the Final Jean Paul de Bruijn beat the youngster Jean van Erp; 15-10, 15-14, 1-15 en 15-2 made it 3-1.
This results that Jean Paul de Bruijn re-enters top 12 in the UMB World Ranking, and that he already is guranteed to shine at the 2008 World and European championship.

- Viva España: Gabriels tables installed in prestigious billiard club
On September 11th, a regional Holiday in the region of Catalunya, Big Billar has opened its doors. This versatile billiards club is located in the city of Vic,located in the north of Spain, at an one hour drive of Barcelona.
The Big Billar club offers a very professional atmosphere for every carom player. 4 10ft. Gabriels Imperator tables are installed in a separate billiard arena (with Cinema-seating). There is no doubt that this impressive arena can establish itself as one of the most reknowned Billiard rooms in Europe
Besides ranking and open tournaments the club will host various national and contiental championships in the near future.

- Nikos Polychronopoulos & Gabriels Billiards team up together
Gabriels Billiards is very pleased to announce that Nikos Polychronopoulos has been assigned as a representative for the Greek market.
The 29 year old player who lives in Athens, is the runner up of the 2006 3-cushion world championship. 4th times National Champion, Polychronopoulos currently is one of the hot-shots in the international 3-cushion scene. Currently he is ranked 8th on the UMB world Ranking.

- Ralf Souquet; Billiards Digest Player of the year 2006
Ralf Souquet has been elected as Player of the Year 2006 by the industries Leading magazine "Billiards Digest".
Ralf stayed sharp sharp throughout the year, snapping the Derby City 9-ball title in january 2006 and anchoring Team Europe with a 5-1 record at the Mosconi Cup in December. In between he captured titles at the European Pool Championships, Enjoypool.com 9-ball championships and the World Pool Championships. For sure we will not forget superb showings at the World Pool Championship (2nd) and two IPT events (5th and 10th).
All in all, we completely agree with Billiard Digest; 2006 was the year of Ralf "the Kaiser" Souquet. Gabriels Billiards is more then proud a proud sponsor of this German pool-icon. We wish that 2007 is as succesfull for Ralf as 2006.

- Blohmdahl wins Worldcup tournament 2007 in Sluiskil, the Netherlands
In the last week of January 2007, the first World Cup 3-cushion event of 2007 was played in Sluiskil, the Netherlands.
After 7 days of matches, the Dutchman Dick Jaspers reached the final to compete for his 3rd win in a row in the Sluiskil tournament. But after two victories of Dick Jaspers it was Torbjörn Blomdahl (Sweden) who captured the 2007 Outoukompou World Cup in a intense final match.
The first World Cup stage was played on 6 Gabriels Imperator 3-cushion table. For the first time Gabriels introduced the new Deep Grey rails.

- Two Qualifiers for the USBA National Championships at the Derby City Classic
Three beautiful Gabriel’s 3-Cushion Billiard tables will be featured for the two USBA Qualifiers. This year the qualifiers will take place in the main building in the Drink Water Room. Winners of each of these tournaments will be receiving a free entry & cash into the 2007 USBA National Championships. Entry fee is $125 and must be a paid up USBA Member. Play will be limited to 15 players for each of these two qualifiers and will be paying out 6 places.
The first qualifying tournament will be played Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 5,6,7th. The second qualifier will be played Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, January 9-10-11th. Each of the two qualifiers will be 3 flights of a 5 man round robin. Matches will be to 25 points. Paid entries guarantees spot. Each player that enters the USBA Qualifiers will receive a FREE complimentary pass to see the Derby City Classic throughout the entire 9-day event, that includes bank pool, one pocket, nine ball and straight pool.
